Hand in Hand with Ganpo · Heart Linked to Chinese Language | 2025 "Chinese Language Education · Chinese Language Teachers" Seminar Successfully Opens

(Net News)On the morning of July 16, the opening ceremony of the 2025 "Chinese Language Education·Chinese Language Teachers" Seminar themed "Hand in Hand with Ganpo · Heart Linked to Chinese Language" was held in the multi-functional hall on the first floor of Sanshi Building, Sanjiang Campus. The seminar was sponsored by the Center for Chinese Language International Education and undertaken by Jiangxi University of Science and Technology. 56 overseas Chinese language teachers from 17 countries including Myanmar, the United States, Spain, Vietnam and Australia gathered in Ganzhou, Jiangxi, officially starting a 14-day study tour.

This overseas Chinese language teachers' seminar is the first time that our university, as a representative of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office's Chinese Language Education Base, has undertaken such an event on behalf of Jiangxi Province. Huang Zhifan, member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President, and Wei Xueyuan, Deputy Secretary-General of Jiangxi Overseas Friendship Association, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Wang Fengsuo, member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, presided over the opening ceremony. Wu Chunhua, Vice President of Ganzhou Overseas Friendship Association, Cai Jinbao, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center and Dean of the School of International Education, as well as relevant leaders of the School of Foreign Languages and the School of International Education, attended the ceremony. Before the ceremony, all participants took a group photo to mark this unforgettable moment.

At the beginning of the event, a promotional video introducing Jiangxi Province, Ganzhou City and Jiangxi University of Science and Technology was played on site, comprehensively demonstrating the cultural heritage of Ganpo land and the school's school-running strength.

Subsequently, Huang Zhifan delivered a speech. He extended a warm welcome to the Chinese language teachers from afar, introduced the school's development history of "being born for tungsten, thriving for copper, strengthening for rare earth, and prospering for lithium batteries", focusing on the school's achievements in six aspects: comprehensive strength, discipline construction, talent training, high-end talents, technological innovation and internationalized school-running. He emphasized that overseas Chinese language education is of great significance and that doing a good job in training Chinese language teachers has far-reaching responsibilities.

The seminar specially invited outstanding experts, doctors and professors in the field of Chinese language education as the teaching team. It aims to give full play to the advantages of our university as a national-level Chinese language education base and the integration of multiple disciplines, especially the major of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL), to help teachers master cutting-edge teaching skills and integrate new technologies such as AI into Chinese language education practice.

Finally, Huang Zhifan hoped that the participating experts and teachers would conduct in-depth learning and exchanges during the seminar, spark ideological collisions, jointly explore and exchange the latest theories and practical achievements in the field of Chinese language education, and continuously inject new vitality into Chinese language education!

In his speech, Wei Xueyuan pointed out that Chinese is a cultural link connecting overseas Chinese around the world, and Chinese language education is a "root-preserving project" for the inheritance of Chinese culture. As cultivators and guardians, overseas Chinese language teachers have played an important role in inheriting culture and cultivating national feelings. For a long time, relying on characteristic resources such as red culture, ceramic culture, Hakka culture, Yangming culture and academy culture, Jiangxi has long been committed to the development of overseas Chinese language education, created brands such as "Heart Linked to China · Love Jiangxi" and "Same Root, Same Dream", and actively carried out activities such as the Chinese Culture Paradise, famous teacher lectures and "China Roots-Searching Journey" summer camps, which have been highly praised by teachers and students of overseas Chinese schools.

Jiangxi University of Science and Technology has carefully prepared for this Chinese language teachers' seminar with detailed and rich curriculum arrangements and the hard work of teacher and student volunteers. It is expected that the participants will gain knowledge and friendship through learning and exchanges, feel the profound historical and cultural heritage among the green mountains and rivers, further deepen their understanding of Chinese culture through inheritance and responsibility, promote the high-quality development of Chinese language education, and enhance people-to-people bonds and cultural exchanges between China and foreigncountries!

Liao Shanman, President of the New Jersey Chinese Teachers Association and Chairman of Huaxia South Chinese School in the United States, spoke as a student representative. She quoted the school motto of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology "Aspire to Great Heights, Put Responsibility First" as a collective portrayal of overseas Chinese language education workers, believing that every Chinese language education worker, Chinese language teacher and disseminator of Chinese culture present here interprets these eight words in their respective countries. Finally, she said that China's AI is at the forefront of the world, and she hopes to learn how to use digital technology to activate intangible cultural heritage teaching during this seminar, allowing students to "personally" experience traditional culture through AR technology, and explore how to maintain the humanistic temperature and unique value of Chinese language education in the AI era.

Teacher Zhu Jianci, a student representative from One Oriental Language Center in Indonesia, shared his Chinese learning experience, teaching experience and expectations for Chinese language education. Zhu Jianci talked about his contact with Chinese songs under the influence of Malaysian children's songs when he was a child, started systematic Chinese learning in the fifth grade, continuously improved his language ability through various competitions such as the Chinese Bridge, and made friends from all over the world. He also shared with everyone that as the first person in his family to master Chinese, he deeply knows that the opportunity is hard-won. He hopes that all Chinese language teachers will join hands to do a better job in Chinese language education and carry it forward!

Professor Huang Lina, the teacher representative, introduced the curriculum design of the seminar. The curriculum covers various modules such as Chinese language knowledge, teaching methods, special topics on Chinese culture, classroom management and practice, fully considering the actual needs of Chinese language education and the professional backgrounds of teachers. She said that Chinese language education has a long way to go, but she believes that as long as every Chinese language education worker cherishes a love for traditional Chinese culture and a dedication to education, keeps learning and bravely innovates, we will surely open a window for overseas Chinese learners to understand traditional Chinese culture, allowing excellent traditional Chinese culture to bloom more brilliantly on the world stage.

After the opening ceremony, Professor Huang Zhifan gave the first special academic lecture "Random Talks on Jiangxi's History and Culture: On Several Issues of Ganzhou's History and Culture" for the seminar. The lecture was hosted by Xie Qiu'en, Vice Dean (in charge of work) of the School of Foreign Languages.

Starting from Qian Mu's view of history, Huang Zhifan emphasized the importance of doing a good job in historical and cultural research, and believed that it can also be applied to thinking about the significance of historical research in Jiangxi Province. Then, the lecture unfolded from aspects such as Jiangxi's geography and naming, historical review and analysis, glory and achievements, and distinctive regional culture, introducing the rise and fall of Jiangxi's historical culture, regional diversity and its unique status in Chinese civilization.

After the lecture, Chinese language teachers from 17 overseas countries visited the school history museum and science and technology museum of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology. The vivid and detailed explanations by the docents made the teachers present have a clearer understanding of the school's historical evolution, major events and technological development. In addition, the teachers also took check-in photos everywhere in the school history museum to leave this unique memory.
