News Network - From April 7 to 10, 2025, the 2025 China (Yudu County, Ganzhou, Jiangxi) Textile and Garment International Direct Sourcing Fair was held in Yudu County to accelerate the integration of Ganzhou's textile and garment industry with the international market, build an international exchange platform for the industry, further connect the supply chain, extend the industrial chain, enhance the value chain, and promote the high-quality development of the textile and garment industry. At the invitation of the organizing committee of the direct sourcing fair, a professional translation team consisting of 3 teachers (Wang Xianming, Zeng Ping, Wang Yexin from the English Department) and 35 students from the 2024 MTI class of the School of Foreign Languages provided comprehensive translation services for the exhibition, helping Yudu's textile and garment products go global.
At the exhibition site, the 3 professional teachers and 35 students were divided into groups to connect with nearly 100 textile and garment enterprises and purchasers, assisting both parties in in-depth communication on issues such as product specifications, delivery cycles, and quality standards. Faced with complex content such as textile fabric parameters and process technology, the translation team made adequate preparations for professional terminology in advance, gave full play to their professional strengths, and achieved "accurate translation and clear expression".
The person in charge of Yudu Yonghengda Garment said: "The volunteer teachers and students not only have strong language skills but also take the initiative to help sort out negotiation points, making them an important link for the success of cooperation."
The teacher-student team of our college deeply participated in the core links of the exhibition, providing accurate translation services for activities such as the opening ceremony, one-on-one negotiations, enterprise visits, and signing ceremonies. With solid professional quality and excellent cross-cultural communication skills, they built an efficient cooperation bridge for Chinese and foreign enterprises, fully demonstrating the effectiveness of translation talent training in our School and winning high praise from the organizers and participating enterprises.
Professor Zhang Jianping, person in charge of the MTI program of our School, stated that this practice is a vivid manifestation of the School's philosophy of “promoting learning through practice and cultivating talents through practice”. Through tempering their practical abilities on a high-standard international platform, students have highlighted the training characteristics of the MTI program of “language + industry”.
The successful participation in this direct sourcing fair not only accelerated the “Go Global” process of Ganzhou’s textile and garment industry but also marked a solid step forward for the School of Foreign Languages in the field of applied translation talent training. The teacher-student team of our School used language as a medium to build a bridge for cross-cultural cooperation. In the future, the School will continue to deepen the integration of production and education, and transport more high-quality language service talents for local opening up and industrial development.
