(This Website News) On the afternoon of October 15th, the 7th Graduate Chinese-English Recitation Contest themed "From Flames of War to Today: A Cross-Generational Response of Spirit," organized by the Graduate Student Union of our college, was held in the Academic Lecture Hall C402 of the Foreign Languages Building. The judging panel comprised Associate Professor CAI Qiang from the English Department, Associate Professor WANG Zhenping from the Graduate Public Foreign Language Teaching and Research Office, and GAO Tian, Deputy Director of the Graduate Student Affairs Office. The event was hosted by WU Chunxiang and XIAO Qian, both Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) students from the Class of 2025, with all graduate students currently enrolled in our college attending as audience.
The competition atmosphere was electric, with 16 participating teams representing the MTI (Master of Translation and Interpreting) and MTCSOL (Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) programs. Through a tapestry of Chinese and English verses, they wove resonances between history and contemporary reality. Chinese-language participants poured their hearts into works expressing unwaving patriotism, retracing the footsteps of martyrs with emotional depth and powerful diction. Meanwhile, English-language participants showcased global perspectives through fluent pronunciation and vivid expressions, breathing new life into revolutionary ideals through cross-linguistic transmission. With passionate enthusiasm and refined skills, all contestants delivered an audio-visual feast blending ideological depth with artistic appeal.

As the event concluded, the winners were announced: The piece "This Prosperous Era Is Just as You Wished" performed by ZHANG Hui, CAI Xiaomin, PAN Shixue, and MENG Die from the Class of 2024 MTI program claimed the Grand Prize. First Prizes went to teams including XU Jiahui (Class of 2024 MTI) and XU Meifeng (Class of 2025 MTI), among others. Second Prizes were awarded to XUE Jingyu (Class of 2025 MTCSOL), ZHOU Qing (Class of 2025 MTI), and others, while Third Prizes were received by SUN Yifeng (Class of 2024 MTCSOL), PAN Shijia (Class of 2025 MTI), and fellow participants.
This recitation contest not only provided a platform for graduate students to showcase talents and exchange ideas but also served as a bridge connecting historical memory with youthful missions through the theme of "cross-generational response." Moving forward, the School of Foreign Languages will continue leveraging such cultural events to deepen the integration of foreign language and Chinese language education, empowering students to innovate through inheritance and grow through expression, thereby injecting vitality into cultivating compound talents with both patriotic spirit and global vision.
