Our correspondent reported that on March 6, 2024, the Third International Conference on English Language Discipline was held in Iraq. The theme of this academic conference was "Artificial Intelligence and Technology in Language, and the Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Technology in Language, Humanities, Social Sciences and Education". Liu Jingjing, an undergraduate student majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages in the class of 2021 of our college, wrote a paper titled "Empowerment and Boundaries - A Comparison of the Application Specifications of International Organizations on Artificial Intelligence in the Field of Education". Her paper was selected for this conference. She participated in the conference online via video and gave a presentation and engaged in exchanges. This paper mainly focused on the latest norms proposed by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), the OECD (the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) and the European Union regarding the application of artificial intelligence in the field of education. It carried out a comparison and analysis from four dimensions, namely the focus of attention, actual influence, degree of innovation attention, and key risks to be guarded against, comprehensively expounding the valuable references and guidance provided by various international organizations in the special field of "generative artificial intelligence".

It is known that this is the third time that a student's paper from the Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages major in our college has participated in an international academic conference, which once again demonstrates the effectiveness of the college's undergraduate talent cultivation. Regarding this valuable conference participation experience, Liu Jingjing said, "At this conference, I witnessed outstanding teams from many top universities, and the research results they presented were remarkable. Their speeches were full of professional depth, and the research content was complex and profound, which made me feel a little pressured. However, the encouragement and support from Teacher Yang Ting and Dr. Huang Wengui have always been there, giving me the confidence to move forward. It makes me strive for progress in the face of insufficiency and work hard while looking at the distant mountains. I would like to express my gratitude to my teachers and the school again for giving me the opportunity to speak at such a grand international conference and also making me realize that I still have some shortcomings and should continue to strive forward."

All along, the college has highly emphasized the cultivation and training of undergraduates' academic literacy and research capabilities. Taking the construction of a national first-class undergraduate major as an opportunity, the Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages major in our college has been more actively guiding and encouraging students to participate in various academic conferences and subject competitions. In the future, our college will continue to increase support for academic activities, continuously do a good job in the construction of first-class majors, deepen education and teaching reforms, innovate talent cultivation models, enrich teaching contents and forms, accelerate the construction of a high-quality undergraduate education system, and continuously improve the level of major construction and the quality of talent cultivation.
