On the morning of April 13, Mr. Andre Geim, the famous British physicist who won Noble Prize in physics in 2010, visited the Ganzhou Campus of JXUST. After inspecting the major research platforms, including National Research Center for Copper Smelting and Processing, the development and application center for tungsten resource, the lab for power battery and materials, the research institute for rare earth magnetic materials and devices, Mr Geim delivered an academic lecture on the topic of Perspective of Graphene and other two dimensional materials. After the lecture, Professor Yang Bin, president of JXUST, chaired the ceremony of appointing Mr. Andre Geim as the guest professor. Sir Andre Geim is a British physicist working in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester.Geim was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on graphene. In 2010, Geim was appointed as Knight Commander of the Order of the Netherlands Lion for his contribution to Dutch Science. In 2011, Geim became a corresponding member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Geim was furthermore made a Knight Bachelor in the 2012 New Year Honours for services to science. He was elected a foreign associate of the US National Academy of Sciences in May 2012.
